Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@lathrophome.org if you cannot find an answer to your question.

People from all walks of life ages 50 years and beyond who enjoy sharing a homelike environment, while maintaining their own individual level of independence.

No, our very reasonable rates are prorated according to each resident’s length of stay. We do not have an admission deposit or application fee. We serve both private pay and publicly subsidized residents equally. Lathrop Home provides application assistance for MassHealth payments.

Our private pay rate is $5290.00 per month or $176.33 per day, which can be prorated based on length of stay.

If a resident does not have the financial means to pay our private rate, we will assist them in applying for a state (EAEDC) or federal (SSI) assistance programs.

Your monthly fee includes your utilities, room & board, free wi-fi, all meals (including snacks), laundry services, housekeeping, and 24-hour assistance from nursing and clinical staff. All residents receive medication and clinical oversight from the nursing department. All activities are free and open to everyone. Our nurse's aides assist with personal care based on resident needs. Typically the only out-of-pocket costs that our residents have other than their personal items is a private phone and/or television. Lathrop offers plenty of community space with televisions and telephones available to meet all resident needs.

You may furnish your room with your favorite things, or if you wish, we can provide a furnished room for you.

Lathrop Home has very low staff turnover rate. Most of the staff have worked at Lathrop Home between 5 and 25 years. We maintain a team of happy, committed individuals who love our residents and work together to support one another in providing every resident with the care they need.

Yes to both! Residents are as free as they would be in their own homes to have visitors, including pets.  You are always welcome to go out shopping, sightseeing, including visiting or vacationing with family and friends. Your friends and family are also welcome to share a meal here at “your place” for a nominal fee.

Lathrop Home, as a level IV residential care facility, can provide you with the most supportive, caring, and home-like option in the area. At Lathrop Home, we believe that knowing our residents on a personal level and responding to their individual needs and preferences is the key to successful aging. We encourage independence with your life choices and activities.

The Lathrop Home and the Lathrop Communities have always been separate organizations.  The idea of the Lathrop Communities was born from the Lathrop Home’s Board of Directors in the 1980’s when it became clear that people were interested in more options for independent retirement housing.  A loan from Lathrop Home’s endowment helped to launch the new organization. The idea to keep a similar name was because the new organization wanted to be linked with the long history of quality and gracious living associated with the Lathrop Home.
